About Me

I am an experienced software developer with 30+ years of experience. I'm also in my second year at Ashford University, studying for a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Software Technology with a minor in Information Systems. I work from home for a healthcare partnership, writing software for their IBM i systems.

I have always been interested in computers. It started in elementary school with a BASIC programming class, and I got the bug. My second job out of high school was with a liquor distributor in California, and they had an IBM AS/400. I quickly became hooked on relational databases and learned the RPG programming language (no punch cards were harmed during my tenure). I found a niche with companies that use IBMs, with all their various names (AS/400, System I, iSeries, i5, i). I have worked in distribution, advertising, and now healthcare.

So why go back to school? I leaped into the workforce after high school and never looked back. While I have enjoyed a measure of success, my talents are slightly one-dimensional. I know IBMs inside and out, but I am seeking to expand my offerings into the PC server world. I want to expand into web programming as well. It will solidify my career and allow me to work in all areas of computers, not just IBM.
